Appearance of property's gates 'important when selling a house'
The appearance of a property's front gates is very important when
selling a house, as it is a "very impressionable" area, one
property expert has asserted.
Andrew Leech, the director of representative body the National Home
Improvement Council, said that people also need to keep the
perimeter of their house up to a good standard of maintenance
because of intruders.
His comments follow an announcement that year on year, retail
profits at B&Q have increased by 66 per cent in the six months
to August 1st 2009.
"A dishevelled fence or a rickety gate is no good to anybody and
depreciates the value of a property," stated Mr Leech.
He added that those who are selling might get a few more thousand
pounds out of a property if it is well looked after.
This news comes after the annual Halifax Home Improvement Survey
recently revealed that building an extra room or an extension to a
property could add more value than any other improvement.
